How does group education differ from clinical care?
Groups provide education and peer support. Separate medical appointments address testing, prescriptions, and individual treatment. You can use both.
Is type 2 diabetes remission possible?
Some people achieve remission, but results vary. Remission is not a cure: blood sugar can rise again, and ongoing medical monitoring remains important.
What eating approach does the program teach?
Whole-food, plant-based eating is central to the curriculum. Personal dietary needs can be discussed during clinical appointments.
Can I participate while taking insulin?
Yes. Your prescribing clinician must oversee medication adjustments. Do not change insulin or other diabetes medicines on your own.
Are recordings available if I miss a session?
The program includes session recordings. Attending live provides opportunities for interaction; body-composition scans require in-person attendance.
How does insurance apply?
Education is self-pay; payment plans are available. Clinical visits accept Medicare and cash payment. Contact the clinic to verify your coverage.
Can I join from outside Homedale?
Group participation is available online. Established Idaho patients may use telehealth for clinical care; initial assessments may require an office visit.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
The Diabetes Reversal Collective is an educational program teaching you the lifestyle medicine strategies to reverse diabetes. It's group-based, focuses on education and community support, and does not include medical management.
Clinical consultations are one-on-one medical visits where I provide personalized assessment, order/interpret labs, manage medications, and create individualized treatment plans. These are billable medical services (Medicare/insurance accepted).
Many patients do both: learn in the group setting and receive medical oversight through individual visits.
-
Research shows that in most cases, type 2 diabetes can be put into remission through lifestyle changes that address insulin resistance at the root. The DiRECT trial and other studies demonstrate significant reversal rates when people make sustained dietary and lifestyle changes. I teach the evidence-based strategies that have worked for others.
-
The Diabetes Reversal Collective teaches whole food plant-based nutrition as the approach most strongly supported by diabetes reversal and longevity research. You'll learn the "why" behind this approach and practical strategies to implement it. In individual clinical consultations, we can discuss personalized approaches.
-
The education applies to anyone with type 2 diabetes, including those on insulin. However, medication changes (especially insulin) require close medical supervision. If you're in the group program, you'll need to work with your own provider or schedule clinical visits with me for medication management.
-
All live sessions are recorded and available in the community. However, live participants get the most value from real-time interaction, weekly food demos, and InBody scans (in-person participants only).
-
For clinical consultations: Yes, I accept Medicare and am working on additional insurance credentialing. Cash-pay options also available.
For the Diabetes Reversal Collective: This is an educational program (not medical care) and is not insurance-billable. Payment plans available.
-
Group program: Yes! The live sessions stream online, and the community is fully virtual. (In-person participants get InBody scans; online participants track progress with labs and other metrics.)
Clinical visits: I offer telehealth consultations for established patients (in Idaho). Initial visits may require in-person assessment depending on your needs.
